Kaolin Clay For Coatings
Water-Washed Kaolin Clay
A variety of grades including pulverized and spray-dried bead beads produced in middle and north Georgia, USA.
KaMin™ TEK 2001 kaolin clay
An ultra-fine particle size, high brightness clay designed for paint, coatings and ink where TiO2 extension and gloss properties are important. High speed dispersible in water-based systems only.
KaMin 35B, KaMin 80B, KaMin 90B
These are spray-dried beaded versions of the milled KaMin 35, KaMin 80 and KaMin 90 grades with similar properties. These grades are only high speed dispersible in water-based systems and will require milling if used in solvent-based systems. Less expensive, higher bulk densities and lower dusting than their milled counterparts.
Polygloss® 90 kaolin clay
With an ultra-fine particle size, this premium, high brightness pigment provides exceptional performance in water- and solvent-based systems. Polygloss 90 clay is considered an industry-benchmark for extending TiO2 and provides optimal spacing to preserve gloss.
KaMin™ 35 kaolin clay
A course clay with low oil absorption. Particularly suited for formulating high solids and exterior coatings.
KaMin 80 kaolin clay
An economical, general purpose clay for both water and solvent-based applications. Provides fast and reliable dispersion in a variety of solvent systems.
KaMin 90 kaolin clay
A highly pulverized clay which is dispersed easily in water- and solvent-based systems. Ideally suited for solvent-based applications where good gloss and controlled rheology are important.
KaMin HG90 kaolin clay
A very fine particle size, high brightness clay. Provides excellent brightness and whiteness characteristics. High speed dispersible in water-based systems only.
Delaminated Water-Washed Kaolin Clay
Lamellar pigments with high aspect ratio that provide barrier effects.
KaMin 611 kaolin clay
A high brightness, fine particle size "naturally delaminated" clay. Intended for use in high speed dispersed, water-based paint and coatings. The platy nature of KaMin 611 provided pigment extension properties for increased hiding and tinting strength, as well as contributes to controlled penetration and improved holdout. Available in spray-dried beads or slurry.
Polyplate® P kaolin clay
A high brightness, delaminated clay. Intended for use in latex paints or water-based sytems where increased hiding, tinting strength and improved hold out are desired. It finds application in water-based primer/sealers for vapor/gas barrier resistance and exterior paints where durability is desired. Available in spray-dried beads or slurry.
Polyplate P01 kaolin clay
A high brightness, pulverized, delaminated clay with large, platy particles processing high aspect ratio. Polyplate P01 provided improved opacity and enamel hold out in water- and solvent-based paints, coatings and inks. This is the milled version of Polyplate P and is available in milled, fine powder.
Polyplate HMT kaolin clay
A high brightness, very high aspect ratio delaminated clay intended for use in water-based coatings systems, water-based primer sealers or any water-based system where increased hiding, tinting strength, improved enamel hold out or bridging are desirable. Available in spray-dried beads or slurry.
Calcined Kaolin Clay
Totally amorphous with no definite form (not crystallized or crystalline); created by exothermal and endothermal reaction that incorporates air voids within the clay.
KaMin 70C kaolin clay
KaMin 70C is an economical, medium particle sized, anhydrous kaolin with moderate oil and water demand. KaMin 70C provides a balance of good hiding power, sheen control and scrub resistance. It finds application in water- and solvent-borne paints and inks. The primary use for KaMin 70C is in interior, flat, latex, architectural paints and traffic paint. It is available in as a milled, fine powder.
KaMin 2000C kaolin clay
KaMin 2000C is an ultra-fine particle, high brightness, high oil absorption, calcined kaolin. The high oil absorption and fine particle size properties of KaMin 2000C contribute significant improvements to hide and tint strength in flat, water- and solvent-borne paints and inks. It is available as a milled, fine powder. Also used a mild abrasive in polishes.
